Nicanor Perlas, recently won the Manuel L. Quezon Award in recognition of his exemplary achievements as a Civil Society leader in the fields of Environmental Advocacy, Global Economic and Financial Management and Peace. Given on 21 August 2009.

Nicanor Perlas won the Alternative Nobel Prize in 2003 “…for his outstanding efforts in educating civil society about the effects of corporate globalisation, and how alternatives to it can be implemented.”

The Global 500 Roll of Honour of the United Nations Environment Programme, the UNEP’s highest international award for environmental achievement, has been awarded to Nicanor Perlas in 1994.

Nicanor Perlas was awarded The Outstanding Filipino award in the field of agriculture in 1994.

An alumni of Xavier University, Nicanor Perlas was conferred the Fr. William F. Masterson S.J. Award by the academic institution for his outstanding work as an agriculturist and of his invaluable contribution towards sustainable and environment-friendly agriculture in 1995.

2nd Salu-salo Para sa Pagbabago with Nick Perlas

The first Salu-Salo Para sa Pagbabago was a success! We would like to THANK all the guests, those who generously donated and sponsored the event, OCCI for their generous support and hands-on help, Paula for the beautiful flowers, Shiela who came all the way from Cebu and donated button pins AND all the volunteers who tirelessly made the event possible.

The second of the Salu-Salo Para sa Pagbabago series will be on NOVEMBER 17, Tuesday 7pm at OCCI Learning Center. This time Nick will focus on talking about Climate Change. We would like to invite an audience who

* wants to eagerly learn what awaits us and how the Filipinos can deal with the changes
* would like to listen to a real environment expert
* is interested to know how the 6 pillars of the PANGMASA platform and societal threefolding can be applied to the issue on climate change
* wants to understand how a GREEN PRESIDENCY can help the country and what the executive branch can do
* wants to learn more why Nick Perlas is the best candidate to help us face these challenging times
